Sound Business Strategies = Strong Society Strategies
The FGS Focus on Societies Day kicks off with a first ever, half-day workshop on Wednesday, August 27. This session will help all society delegates, members-at-large, and other interested parties understand that genealogical, business, and technical languages are not disparate, foreign languages. Rather than opposing one another, these discipline-centric terms and principles can support and even stabilize their counterparts. Exhaustive genealogical research is simply due diligence in the same way that business plans are simply road maps, targets, or goals. In this half-day workshop participants will engage in:
- Understanding the need to plan sources of income/expenditures
- Understanding the cost of every GREAT idea
- Working through social media constructs
- Forecasting results based on plans
- Embracing the written plan
- Supporting your society and leaving it better than you found it!
Join David Rencher and Ed Donakey to develop a plan and tools for your society while having fun in the process. You will walk away with a workbook that includes worksheets, notes, and ideas that you can use to enhance and guide your society forward. David and Ed want to help you and will be at your disposal throughout the session!
You will leave the workshop with a better understanding of your society's circumstances with tools that you will know how to use. Take this time to break down barriers and understand the ease of incorporating proven mangement principles. In the same way that we understand our ancestry one person or artifact at a time, we strengthen our society one principle at a time.
