The San Antonio Genealogical & Historical Society (SAGHS) is one of two local co-hosts for FGS 2014. SAGHS was chartered in 1959 with six members and now has 400. The main function of the Society is the library which contains books, periodicals, maps, and other genealogical material for all states, Europe, Mexico, along with a variety of other research material such as family books, vertical files, military records, etc. Of course, Texas books and periodicals comprise a significant part of the collection but the library is not limited to Texas and Bexar County. Over the years, the Society has published over two dozen books of Bexar County records such as cemetery, marriages, pensions, etc.
The Society operates the reference library in a 1926 house that was once the center of a ranch in north central part of what is now in the city of San Antonio. The Society bought the house about 10 years ago, renovated and updated it to accommodate the library.
