Society Showcase – Booth X
Serving the 13 county region of the Concho Valley, the San Angelo Genealogical and Historical Society is a growing and thriving society. Its members are interested in researching family or solving historical mysteries in Coke, Concho, Crockett, Glasscock, Irion, Kimble, Menard, Reagan, Runnels, Schleicher, Sutton, Sterling, or Tom Green counties. Pioneer certificates are available for persons who prove descent from an early settler of any of their 13 counties.
Ongoing projects include abstracting burials at the Lawnhaven Cemetery, indexing marriage records, the Tom Green County civil court docket, the Tom Green County criminal court docket, and more. An annual Genealogy Fair produced by SAGHS brings over 50 genealogical and historical exhibits to San Angelo for the enjoyment of Concho Valley historians and genealogists alike.
SAGHS meets the first Tuesday of the month, September through May at 7:00 p.m. for refreshments and an educational and entertaining presentation on a historical or genealogical topic. Their meeting location is the fellowship hall of Trinity Lutheran Church, 3536 YMCA Drive in San Angelo, Texas. All meetings are open to the public and visitors are always welcome.
