2008 FGS Conference Banquet

Taking Bigger Steps
by Chris Haley

There are always plenty of recognitions given out at the annual FGS Banquet, including the prestigious Ruth Bishop Award for genealogical volunteers, but a true highlight of this year’s event will be the keynote speaker: Chris Haley, the nephew of the Roots author, whose short time onstage at last year’s conference in Fort Wayne left everyone who saw him wanting much, much more.

Haley’s presentation will be titled "Taking Bigger Steps," in which he will emphasize going stronger, bolder and deeper into your search for uncovering and building your family. Haley promises that his talk will "share a bit of motivation, encouragement, sage sayings from others who have preceded us, insight as to my own genealogical experiences, the legacy of my uncle's work and the Haley name." He also says that "You can also be relatively certain there may be a touch of the 'Day-O' feeling somewhere mixed in!"

Menu: Mixed Greens with Sun Dried Cherries, Toasted Sunflower Seeds, Crumbled Blue Cheese Balsamic Dijon Vinaigrette, Chicken Breast Stuffed with Boursin and Spinach, Roasted Fingerling Potatoes, Chef’s Choice Seasonal Vegetable Medley, Tiramisu
